Pi Network Kept Building All Month — But Your PI Coin Hit a Fresh All-Time Low Anyway
Pi Network rolled out developer tools, a browser redesign and a new test token in July, while PI's price sank to just 7 cents.
If you’re holding PI, the coin behind Pi Network’s mobile mining app, July gave you a mixed bag: a genuinely busy month of product updates, but also a fresh all-time low for the token itself. The Core Team pushed out new developer tools, redesigned the Pi Browser, and rolled out a test token to nearly half a million users — yet none of it stopped PI from sinking to around $0.07 before clawing back to hover near $0.08.
What actually got built this month
The month kicked off with Pi2Day on June 28, the community’s biggest annual event alongside Pi Day. Unlike some past years, there was no headline exchange listing announcement. Instead, the Core Team focused on the Pi App Studio, introducing three new tools: PiVerify, Pi Sign-In, and SoloHost, all designed to make it easier for outside developers to build apps that plug into Pi identities.
About a week later, the team followed up with a backend upgrade for the App Studio, adding persistent storage so developers can build apps that actually save user data reliably. It’s not a flashy headline feature, but it’s the kind of plumbing work that matters if Pi Network wants real, usable apps rather than demos.
Later in July, the Pi Browser got a visual refresh, with a cleaner interface meant to help everyday users find apps more easily and give developers better exposure for their projects. Then, just before this recap, the team said it had finished distributing a new testnet token called SLICE to almost 480,000 participants as part of testing for the Pi Launchpad — the tool meant to eventually support future token launches on Pi’s mainnet. The team was clear that SLICE is testnet-only for now, not something with real value yet.
The mainnet migration deadline that came and went quietly
Validators were told to upgrade to a new protocol version, v25, by July 22 as part of the ongoing mainnet migration process. That deadline has now passed with no official confirmation from the Core Team that the upgrade actually went live. Given that the team’s communication on technical milestones has been inconsistent lately, a missed public update doesn’t necessarily mean the work itself failed — but it does mean Pioneers are, once again, left guessing about where the network actually stands.
A scam warning worth taking seriously
Alongside the product news, one report circulating on social media flagged a Pioneer whose PI failed to appear in their wallet after unlocking, with the account instead showing repeated failed transaction attempts. It’s a pattern consistent with phishing attacks targeting wallet passphrases rather than a network-wide bug. If you’re holding PI, it’s a reminder to never share your passphrase with any app, website, or “support” contact — no legitimate team member will ever ask for it.
What it means for your PI holdings
The price action tells its own story. PI broke below the $0.10 level a few weeks back, set consecutive lows, and bottomed near $0.07 on July 14 — its worst level since launch. It briefly rebounded and tested $0.10 again, but was rejected, and it’s now struggling to hold above $0.08. That leaves the token down more than 97% from its all-time high of $2.99, reached back in February.
The takeaway for everyday Pioneers is straightforward: development activity and token price aren’t the same thing. Pi Network is clearly still shipping features and growing its developer tooling, but none of that has translated into demand for the coin so far, largely because mainstream exchange access and real-world use remain limited. If you’re holding PI, treat the ecosystem updates as long-term groundwork rather than a signal that the price is about to turn — and keep your wallet passphrase to yourself no matter what.
